Membership - Terms and Conditions

Spirit Team UK prides itself on its levels of commitment, professionalism and investigative techniques. In turn we adhere to our own strict rules with regards to our conduct. These rules are stated below:

General Rules

  • The team prides itself on its level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Any breach of this will result in removal from the group.
  • On annoucement of investigations, members will reply with their intentions to attend or not in a timely fashion, this enables us to set prices (if applicable) and make arrangements for the investigation.
  • Payments must also be made on time.
  • All Participants names and their payments must be received and registered no later than 7 days before the investigation date. This information is needed for insurance and organisational purposes. People who turn up for investigations on the evening and have not prepaid/registered 7 days before, WILL be turned away. There are NO exceptions to this rule.
  • No information/evidence must be discussed or passed onto third parties without the consent of the client and confirmation given by the Team managers.
  • Confidentiality must be given at all times unless stated otherwise by the client. Anyone found breaking this confidentiality would be immediately dismissed from this group.
  • The Team is here primarily to investigate paranormal activity. We will also have regular team meetings and social nights.
  • We use PayPal as our primary method of monetary transactions. Cash and Cheques may be used at the discretion of the managers,
  • We do not discriminate against people wishing to join from other groups. We encourage any knowledge and ideas they bring to the team.
  • Spirit Team also operates a shop selling a range of items from Clothing through to Investigation equipment.

Forum Rules

  • No images or text of a sexual, racial, threatening or abusive nature will be tolerated on the forum or in the chat room.
  • The forum operates a strict inactivity policy. Unlike other groups, we only keep on members who take an active part in the team. Therefore once you have joined the forum, your membership level will be determined by the number of posts you make. If you fail to log on to the forum for 60 days, your membership will be suspended and a warning e-mail sent out. If after a further 30 days inactivity, your membership will be cancelled. Your membership fee will NOT be refunded. If you want to continue your membership, you will need to rejoin and pay your £5 membership fee again. These rules can be viewed again in the forum. This policy is in place to encourage only genuine people who want to take an active part in the team.
  • The forum is in place for all members to take part. All members are encoraged to take part in existing discussions and also start new ones.
  • All items for sale privately on the forum are sold by individual members and Spirit Team UK accepts no responsibilty for any omissions, disputes, non-payments etc for these items.
  • Chat nights will be held on the first Friday of each month. The chat room can be accessed via the forum.

Investigation Rules

  • Each investigation will be started with a tour of the venue and explicit instructions for the carrying out of the investigation.
  • Each participant will be asked to sign a liability disclaimer at the start of each investigation.
  • Respect must be given to other team members and their equipment.
  • Respect must be given to the client, their property and their surroundings.
  • Only authorised areas may be accessed. By accessing areas that have been deemed as "out of bounds" without authorisation will be treated as a serious breach of Team rules and those involved will be asked to leave the investigation site immediately.
  • Do not touch any equipment that has been set up by someone else within a location.
  • Investigators are responsible for their own belongings
  • When entering/leaving a location, please make sure it is left as you found it
  • When entering and leaving a location, please state your name and the time.  This is for the benefit of eliminating what may be recorded by audio/video.
  • Do not feel under any pressure. If you feel uncomfortable or want somebody to go with you somewhere – just ask.
  • Smoking, eating or drinking is prohibited. Designated areas will be set up for each investigation.
  • Radio’s must be used and switched on at all times in case of an unexpected event or emergency.
  • No one is to leave the investigation site until they have informed the vigil organiser.
  • When entering a location to take photographs, please state your name and say that you are taking a picture.  This is because there might be video cameras set up within that area and flashes from your camera may be recorded by video equipment and therefore these flashes can be eliminated.
  • Any information (i.e. video/audio/photographic) gathered, must be shared with Spirit Team UK for use in research and reports.
  • Alcohol is strictly prohibited before and during investigations.
  • A first aid kit is available at all investigations and Trained First Aiders will be available at each investigation. Spirit Team UK does not accept any liabilty for injuries or any subsequent treatment. This is solely at the disrcetion of the individual.
  • All Bluetooth functionality on mobile phones, PDA's etc must be switched off during the investigation. Mobile devices may be left on in silent mode.
  • Each member will be given a sheet to record the findings of the evenings events. At the end of the investigation, each member will take away his/her report form and complete the online investigation report form (found in the forum). This information will be used to compile the final report and presented to the venue owner.

All of the above points must be adhered to in full at all times, failure to comply with any of the above terms and conditions may lead to suspension or cancellation of membership.
